My partner and I stayed for 2 nights at the end of May after reading the
reviews on this site. We were in a room on the 5th floor, and found everything
that has already been written to be true. Its very friendly and English
speaking, the bathroom was spotless and a good size, and although the
bedroom wasnt huge, it was fine for a couple of nights. The location is
excellent - safe and very handy for the Metro and local restaurants. We
never heard any noise from other rooms or traffic (though that might have
been because we were so high up!) Lovely cotton sheets as well.
Across the street and 1/2 block toward the river is an arched entrance to a restored roman arena. Now a park, it's a lovely, quiet spot. Not in most guidebooks, but not to be missed. Staff at the hotel were universally friendly and helpful. The room was small but comfortable, with bath (!). Notre Dame's towers were in view from the balcony. It's close to all that's happening in the Latin Quarter, but just enough removed to be quiet and a great place to stay. We skipped the hotel's breakfast and bought the raisin baguette and other pastries for 2 euros (total) across the street, then wandered to cafes at Rue Mouffetard for coffee. - very small room, but did expect that in paris anyway, so nothing was disliked really. : )
